An Explanation of as-Sarf al-Bahai
From the author's introduction:
Many works have been written on the sciences of the Arabic language, particularly in the areas of syntax (Nahw) and morphology (Sarf). However, beginner-friendly resources are limited in the English market. One of the more popular texts in the Indian Subcontinent is Sarf e Bahai. Through my studies, I have found this text to be one of the most concise and beneficial resources in Arabic morphology (Sarf).
A few years ago, I realized that many valuable works from the Indian Subcontinent, rooted in the Persian and Transoxiana (Ma Wara an-Nahr) tradition, had not received the attention they deserved. Motivated by a desire to promote some of the scholarship from this region, I recognized that my efforts may be small, and I ask Allah for forgiveness for any shortcomings.
Nonetheless, I believe that many can benefit from this work. To assist with this, I have written a brief explanation of Sarf e Bahai in English, complete with mind maps, examples, and exercises to make this classical text accessible to a modern audience. Additionally, I have included a morphological parsing table in every chapter as a visual aid for beginners, helping them identify the different elements of morphological parsing. These tables can also be useful for teachers applying morphological principles and rules in their instruction.
